Mercury was the Roman Messanger of the Gods, though a god himself. He was known for speed, dextarity, and sly intelegence. His planet represents the same. It rules our intelect and communication. Everything that requires intelegence is the business of Mercury and no other planet. Although the god Mercury was male, the planet itself is considered neither masculine or feminine, because it's main attributes is common to both sexs.

Amy meaning "love" in Latin. It can also be tracked to a first form - Amelia, Emily, to Emil, which means industrious, or work.
~Birthstone and Birth Flower~
Amy's birthstone is the Saphire, for the month of September. The Saphire has been honored for many reasons. It was thought by priests and sourcerers they could tell the future. The stone has marritle importance, as well, so it's often been a gift to one's partner. The reason being it was thought to be an alarm system, and would dim and cease to shine if the wearer was unfaithful to their spouse. It's a major symbol of loyalty.
Amy's flower is the Aster, also for September, which symbolises love and daintyness.
